Welcome Tom!

November 13, 2024

Tom has recently joined our team at our Manchester office as our newest Associate Solicitor. To help you get to know Tom a little better, we’ve asked him some questions about his previous work experience and what attracted him to IDR Law.

How did you get into the world of contentious probate?

“I went to Lancaster University and studied LLB law. Then I moved back to Manchester, where I’m from, and did the LPC. I then went to Myerson Solicitors in South Manchester, where I trained and qualified. I qualified in contentious probate and practised for four years. After those four years, I moved to Dubai and worked in House for a company dealing with multi-jurisdictional arbitrations, and then most recently, I returned to the UK and joined IDR.”

What drew you to IDR Law?

“The first thing I saw about IDR law is that they specialise in contentious probate. This is all they do. That’s what interests me, and that’s where my specialisation lies. Having similar people who’ve all specialised in it was a big attraction to me; it’s a bonus to have high-quality work and that flexible approach to working, working from home, working from the office sometimes but keeping that work-life balance in check.”

What do you like to do in your spare time outside of the office?

“I’m a big Manchester City fan. I’m a season ticket holder. I also play in a 5A side team in Manchester; I’ve been getting to golf, and when I was in Dubai, I got quite a bit into the paddling. I understand there’s some paddling rivalry between the Harrogate and Manchester offices, so I’m looking forward to getting involved in that.”
